I’m so glad you stopped by this space. Here you’ll find plenty of thoughts about my forays into homemaking, updating our first house, baking, and lots more. I’ve sometimes heard the rule that a blog should only focus on one major topic…and I am totally kicking that rule to the curb. Ha!
Homemaking | creating a place where friends and family gather
Life gets so busy and even with the epic amount of inspiration we all have at our fingertips (oh hey, Pinterest) it can be easy to neglect our homes. Homemaking is becoming a lost art as culture becomes overwhelmed with the clutter of both material things and overstuffed calendars. I love the vision of creating a home where others are welcomed, peace is found, and relationships are built to weather storms. In this space, I share projects, ideas, and inspiration that will encourage you in your own journey of making your house a home.
Recipes, books, and randomness | because a good book + chocolate can’t be beat
You’ll find some of my favorite recipes and tips for making time in the kitchen more gratifying. There’s also a healthy dose of random projects thrown in as well as books. Because who doesn’t want to talk about Pride and Prejudice??
Home decor | I’m a farmhouse girl all the way
As far as updating and decorating our home, it won’t take long for you to realize that I love the farmhouse aesthetic. I am drawn to the simplicity, laid-back style, and historical undertones. And I can’t get enough of farmhouse white.
A few more things about me…
I married my best friend in 2014 and life is so much sweeter with Ben by my side.
Together we bought our first home in 2016 and are enjoying the (sometimes slow!) process of making it our own.
We live in Minnesota where the winters are long and the summers are hot, but we also don’t have giant bugs, so I guess I won’t move south. Yet.
Jesus Christ made me whole, keeps me sane, and gives my life purpose. He is everything.
Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are my favorite and I bake them far too often.
I love to read blogs (of course!) and if you have a favorite I’d love it if you shared with me.
One of my favorite books of all time is Betsy’s Wedding (the final book in the Betsy-Tacy series) and if you haven’t read the series, you MUST. It won’t boggle your mind or anything like that. Just a good solid series of three best friends navigating the joys and pitfalls of growing up in the early 1900s.
James 1:17 “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (NIV)
