Happy Friday! This weekend I’m looking forward to spending Father’s Day with Ben’s family and making a giant layer cake to celebrate the occasion. Oh yes. Over the week, I honestly didn’t accomplish much on the home front, but I still have some favorites to share with you today, including getting closer on picking out my new front door color:
1 – Pink paint chips
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m working on painting our front door. It will be pink for sure (hubby agreed so I’m not backing out now!), but what that means exactly is still in the works. I feel like choosing a color is 10x harder when it’s going on an outdoor surface (as if it wasn’t hard enough). At any rate, I’m still having fun sorting through all these pink paint chips! Far more visually interesting than trying to pick a white or gray (which I’m also trying to do!). Oy.
2 – Saying “see ya later” to our gas stove
Ok, so I don’t have an after picture because this beast is heavy, but we are finally getting rid of this darn gas stove! We disconnected the gasline and have a nice hole in our house at the moment, but I am pumped to have it gone. It was ever so eclectically placed exactly off center in the room and even got to stand on it’s own little pedestal. Yeah, no. Oh, and check out that paneling and the wallpaper too. Lovely. Even though we obviously still have a ton to do in our basement we’re one step closer now, which is cause for celebration!
3 – Learning how to split hostas
I am a newbie in the garden and I’m sure I have plenty of mistakes to make, but I’m excited that my first attempt at splitting hostas went relatively well! Little by little we’ll get our yard looking pretty. We are currently contending with some giant day lilies that haven’t been split for years, so we’ll see if it’s even possible to get those out of the ground! Yikes.
4 – Around the web
This Pilates workout from Cassey Ho…it’s just 30 minutes and the perfect intensity for a short and sweet workout.
A blog post about “stuff with strings”…what to do when your home is filled with things that have strings attached.
