Happy Friday! I hope you are having a good one! I’m over here battling a cold, but I’m still hoping to get lots of projects finished today. Our landscaping is a hot mess with weeds galore, so that’ll be step one, and then I’m planning to do some sewing, decluttering, and general house-cleaning. Wow, what a crazy Friday, right?!
Today I wanted to share some of my favorites from the last couple of weeks. I’ve got my latest healthy breakfast fix, a random purchase I can’t get enough of, a new pair of shoes (that I ordered online and they actually fit, WHAT), and a Youtube channel I recently discovered.

My current go-to breakfast
We probably all know we need to eat more protein, but sometimes that can be a challenge. Especially if you’re like me and not always a huge fan of meat. In lieu of meat, I tend to embrace choices like high-protein dairy (cottage cheese, greek yogurt), eggs, quinoa, or nut butters.
All that to say, getting a high protein breakfast is important to me, because then I know I’m doing my best to meet my protein goals right away in the morning.
This is what I’ve been making:
Mix together with hot water:
- 1/3 cup 1-minute oats
- 2 tsp collagen powder
- 1 tsp each of chia seeds and flax seeds
- A splash of milk
- (optional) About 5-10 semi-sweet chocolate chips for a pop of sweetness
- (optional) A scoop of natural peanut butter or almond butter for a little more protein and some healthy fats
I think this comes in at about 11g of protein (including the oats, collagen, chia seeds, and flax). It’s not the highest protein meal you’ll ever eat, but for breakfast, it’s not too shabby!
I know know, just mason jars?
But here’s the thing. These little guys have so many uses. They aren’t pricey either. I picked up a dozen at Target for $8.
My favorite use for them right now is iced coffee. It’s like 100x more delicious if you shake it up in a mason jar (plus lid!). And, no cleaning the blender afterwards!
And that’s the not the only thing I’ll be using these for:
- Coffee or no, they are the cutest drinking glasses you ever did see
- You could make these mason jar herb gardens
- Salad. In a mason jar. How cute is that?
- And of course. Craft projects! Paint ’em up!
Trying to find a pair of walking/running/whatever shoes isn’t exactly my idea of a fun time. I actually picked these up online hoping they might do the trick, and shock of shocks, they were PERFECT. They are the New Balance Arishi Lightweight Running Shoe and I’m a huge fan.
These shoes are a very lightweight sneaker. Even though they are a running shoe, my personal preference is to use something like this for walking or other low-impact cardio. They have a nice comfy insole and the softness of the entire shoe is a huge win in my book. Also, the colors are excellent. If you are looking for a new walking/running shoe, I highly recommend these. If you give them a try, I hope they work for you! Because let’s be honest, no one wants to spend eternity trying to find a decent pair of sneakers.
The gray ones are also nice:
And these blush pink ones:
I honestly don’t even remember how I stumbled on this channel? Maybe an Instagram ad? Guess those are effective, ha.
I jumped right into the current 10 day challenge running at the moment and I’m loving it. I am usually consistent with working out, but have been realizing I need to do a lot more to combat the sitting-all-day thing that is our modern reality. Pilates is so great for working on posture and overall core strength. I appreciate how Robin suggests modifications and points out the correct form as she leads you through the exercises. I like how the focus is on getting the exercise correct, versus pushing you to work harder or faster, which often leads to bad form or injury. Worth a look if you enjoy Pilates or just want to switch up your workouts!
What about you?
I’d love to hear from you! Anything you are loving this week? Big plans for your weekend or Friday night? Share with me in the comments!
