It’s Friday! Oh, how I needed Friday this week. Sooooo, my Monday kicked off by getting majorly rear-ended while driving on my way home from work. Scary and not fun on all the levels. And the red tape? Oh man. For this never-had-an-accident girl, it has been a total pain. How many more phone calls will I make before this thing is wrapped up? Thankfully no one was hurt and it was a very straightforward accident, so at least it’s just a matter of keeping tabs on the process and trying to get my car fixed (which may or may not be a reality at this point, sigh). With all that said, I’m ready for the weekend.
So let’s kick it off talking about things that ARE awesome this week!

First off, who loves a good grill-out? Meeeeeeee. And you know what goes real good with grilled food? Potato salad. I used to dislike potato salad with a passion, but I eventually grew out of that (thank goodness), and when I tried this fabulous recipe from Ina, I became a convert forever.
Tips: DO NOT use all the salt called for in the recipe. The last step is to add another 2 teaspoons of salt to the salad. Don’t do it. Also, DO use both kinds of mustard. Whole ‘nother level of flavor right there. I also prefer to use 1/2 the amount of red onion. Totally up to you, but it gets to be a bit strong otherwise I think.
I am always on the hunt for the perfect white and gray paint colors. When we finally get around to painting the main living areas of our home it will be a big enough feat that I’m determined to pick EXACTLY the right color on the first go. Repainting won’t be an option!
So, as I’ve been slowly painting the smaller rooms in our house I’ve tried out colors that I love in hopes of finding “the one”.
I used Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore in our bedroom (you can see it here), but it’s too bright for the whole house. I wanted to love Vanilla Milkshake (another Ben Moore color), but it never got beyond a sample swatch. Just didn’t work with the lighting of our home. I also tried Gray Owl (Ben Moore) in our lower level bathroom, but it’s too cool for our entire home.
I’ve gotta say though, I’m really liking Drift of Mist from Sherwin Williams. My only concern with making this my all-over color is that it’s still a smidge too cool in tone. It looks a bit purple-ish in this photo, but it actually is a very straightforward gray without funky undertones.
Why is it so hard to choose!? Let me know in the comments if you have a favorite white or gray that I need to try.
My brother bought me this recipe box for my birthday, which was just the sweetest! I love the cute galvanized look. It also has a cute little Hearth and Hand nameplate on the back which I of course forgot to snap a photo of (see it on the Target description here).
