Good morning friends!
It’s Friday, so I wrote up a few things that I am loving this week. I enjoy reading these posts from my favorite bloggers, as it’s a way I’ve found great recommendations for sometimes totally random things. Share with me in the comments below what you’re loving this week!
I have only recently learned about the absolute brilliance of the podcast format. It’s the perfect entertainment for things like jogging or washing dishes, and this particular podcast is super inspiring (especially if you’re knee-deep in updating or decorating your home) and entertaining. If you enjoy learning about home decor and diy stuff (with a healthy dose of random-ness) you will definitely enjoy this podcast. John and Sherry are very fun to listen to and obviously put a lot of effort into creating great episodes.
My favorite episodes so far (though I have definitely enjoy each one I’ve listened to!) are: Episode #41 where they interview the couple that hosted the Old Home Love show on HGTV. Lots of fascinating conversation about the old homes they update, as well as tips to give your not-so-old home some character! I also really enjoyed episode #13 where they talked about how to organize your home reno projects when you have lots on the checklist and no idea where to start. They also have a great show notes section (where my links will direct you) where you can get all the details of what they talked about during the show.
When this show first came on Netflix (about a year and a half ago I think?), my husband and I started watching it on a whim. It quickly became our favorite thing on Netflix. I think the format of the show is just wonderful. I really miss cooking shows that actually talk about what one is cooking/baking, instead of focusing on some crazy drama or competition. This one is indeed a competition, but it’s all so different than the way American shows are done.
Amateur bakers spend their weekends over a period of several weeks creating signature, technical, and showstopper “bakes”, all while the esteemed British judges critique the nuances of their finished products. As contestants are sent home week-by-week, eventually the final episode concludes with crowning the winner of the Bake-Off. It’s all so fun, and they are asked to bake such intriguing recipes. If you enjoy baking at all, you just must give it a try and me know if you love it as much as I do! I think the easiest way to watch is on Netflix, though PBS streams the show as well.
Continuing the randomness, next up on my list is large batch taco seasoning. Making up a big batch of taco seasoning is one of my best time-saving dinner tips. It makes seasoning meats for tacos sooo quick and easy. Rather than gathering several spices and then trying to remember how much to add, I just make up a batch of this seasoning every once in a while and we are good to go!
Also in the realm of delicious food, this banana bread. I made this recipe gluten-free this week by substituting a cup-for-cup GF flour and it turned out great. I love my chocolate, so a recipe that includes a healthy dose of cocoa powder plus chocolate chips is right up my alley. Yum!
And finally, I am loving the return of spring! I have totally ditched all my boots in favor of my favorite Minnetonka moccasins and am loving the refreshing weather and the sounds of birds singing all morning. Soaking in every minute. Now I just have to be patient for everything to start turning green again (besides my houseplants!).
Let me know what you are loving this Friday!
