Happy Friday everyone!
I’m stopping in today to share a few of my favorites from the week. The first one is something that I’m excited about because it makes saving and organizing home ideas I want to remember sooo easy. If you’re anything like me, you find a lot of home ideas on Instagram, but end up losing the posts because the ways to save them can be clumsy or ineffective. Enter Instagram collections:
1 – Instagram changes
This update allows you to save posts into “collections“, much like a Pinterest board. This makes it so easy to keep track of inspiration photos, recipes, ideas, whatever. All neatly categorized. Brilliant.
I’m also loving the new update that allows you to archive your own posts (the little clock right across from the username). If you like the memories captured in your early Instagram posts, but also wish you could undo those poorly lit cell phone photos, just go ahead and archive them with this new change. It definitely plays into the vanity that sometimes overwhelms Instagram, but I’ll admit I’m still a fan.
2 – IKEA plants
These little faux plants from IKEA are taking over Instagram. Move over shiplap I guess! Everyone loves a pop of natural color though, and if you’re not a green thumb (or want to have plants in a window-less room) these are a great solution. So many ways to use these cute plants around the house!
3 – Blog updates
I’m no pro at navigating WordPress and the Genesis framework (how I’m running my site), and it can be a little scary making site updates sometimes! It’s a learning curve, but I was SO excited this week to figure out how to add a new visual menu this week.
I added in this change (the menu items will be updated once I write and publish the content that is supposed to go there!) that can direct blog traffic to two pages (diy and recipes) that are updated every time a post in one of those categories is published (my About page is static). I need to work on organizing my posts effectively, but I’m happy about getting this little update finished!
4 – Garden inspo
I am not a gardener by any stretch (it’s the worms, I can’t handle them I tell ya!), but a super sweet friend from church is helping me figure out how to manage the areas of landscaping around our home and giving me ideas for new flowers to plant for some cottage vibes. I am really excited about this whole project, and will definitely share more later on, but for now here are a few of my inspiration photos that I’m loving this week (more on Pinterest).
Share with me in the comments what you are loving this Friday!
