I originally created this set of cookies for my daughter’s doll displays. I grew up with American Girl doll things and I remember always coveting those adorable accessory sets! Making homemade is a lot more affordable and endlessly customizable. Note: these cookies are intended for display only and not for children or play.

However, you could also use these for gift tags, ornaments, a garland, or just part of a Christmas décor display. Actually, they would be cute for any holiday! Just swap the Christmas tree for a different shape.

How large are these mini cookies? Here’s a photo of them near a quarter for scale. They are quite small! The round cookies are about 1.5″ in diameter.

I designed a full-length printable PDF for this project that is totally free of ads. You can view it on a device or print it and work from that. I suggest printing the hand-drawn template if you want to cut out the exact cookies I made. You can also create your own designs too!

What You Need to Make This Craft

  • Wool Felt: Choose your favorite cookie colors. Wool felt (or most wool blends) gives a better result over craft store varieties which tend to stretch and break when sewn. I purchase my felt from Over the River Felt on Etsy.
  • Beading Needles and Embroidery Needles of your choice: if you choose to add seed beads to your cookies you will need thin beading needles where the eye is small enough to pass through your choice of beads.
  • Embroidery Floss in Coordinating Colors: Use standard 6-strand embroidery floss (such as DMC). The floss will be visible so choose colors that match the felt. You will use one strand for sewing on the beads and two strands for stitching the cookies together.
  • Polyester stuffing: a small amount of polyester fiberfill stuffing. You can also use sewing scraps cut into tiny pieces for a great recycling option.
