Stylish Play Kitchens for Toddlers and Kids

Play kitchens are a favorite toy (and Christmas gift idea!) for toddlers and kids. Let them use their imaginations with these beautiful and stylish play kitchens!

Do My Kids Need a Play Kitchen?

Toddlers love play kitchens and older kids do too! Stock a simple toy kitchen with pots, pans, and lots of play food and watch creativity blossom.

Play kitchens vary in price from free (Facebook Marketplace anyone?!) to a large investment. Choose a kitchen you love that is within your budget and enjoy all the culinary fun to come!

How Do I Pick a Play Kitchen to Buy?

When we had our first baby, I was already planning the play kitchen we would buy for our eventual toddler. I figured we would pick up the IKEA DUKTIG play kitchen–we liked its simplicity, price, and classic design. But, little did I realize the wide variety of gorgeous play kitchens out there! Hence, this post.

Everyone has different features they will want for their kiddos in a play kitchen. Some things to consider when you choose a toy kitchen for your little ones are as follows:

  • Budget: Choose a budget and shop accordingly.
  • Age: Select an age-appropriate kitchen. Many are rated for 3+.
  • Longevity: A larger kitchen that can be used past the toddler years is a great way to gain more value.
  • Style: Pick a style/color that your little one will love. No need to sacrifice your own style with this list of pretty kitchens.
  • Space: Measure your space and choose a play kitchen that will fit easily.
  • Reviews: Read a few reviews and select a kitchen that you are confident investing in.
  • Assembly: If you aren’t handy, stay away from kitchens that are complex to assemble. Or, buy a used (and already assembled!) kitchen.
  • Accessories: Take note if accessories (pots/pans/etc) are included with your kitchen or not.

Which Play Kitchen Is the Tallest?

Of the kitchens on this list (12 kitchens total), the B. Toys – Mini Chef Kitchenette- Wooden Play Kitchen is the tallest, coming in at just over 43″ high. Note that the aforementioned IKEA DUKTIG is also a taller kitchen, at just over 42″.

Many of the other kitchens are about 32-35″ high. So, if you are searching for a taller kitchen for older kiddos, the B. Toys model might be a great place to start.

Which Play Kitchen Is the Smallest?

If you are looking to outfit a small room with a play kitchen then the Little Chef Valencia Play Kitchen Set is a reasonable pick with a width of only 16″ (and a depth of just 9.5″). On the other hand, the small size means it won’t have the longevity that a larger kitchen will as your child grows.

If you have more space and expect that multiple children will play at the kitchen, choosing a wider kitchen (like the 44″ wide Little Chef Paris Play Kitchen Set or the similar 43.25″ wide Melissa and Doug Kitchen) is a great idea as there is more space for each child to cook and play.

Which Play Kitchen Is the Best Value?

The Milton and Goose Play Kitchen is the most expensive kitchen on this list. By far. It’s a very nice kitchen and so gorgeous that I couldn’t resist including it, but most of us will probably settle for a kitchen in a more modest price range.

With that said, for value, I love the looks of the Little Chef Paris Play Kitchen Set. It’s three pieces (fridge, stove, sink) with plenty of space to play. I noticed some mixed reviews on this one, so as always take a good look before buying!

I also love the Homestyle Green 2-Piece Kitchen. It has so much variety for imagination and play with the stove, sink, washing machine, and fridge.
